RECAP and RESULTS

To all of the racers and their families and friends, thanks for coming out and supporting our local triathlon. This 31 year tradition is all about you. Conquring this legendary course is something for you to brag about! Luke Roberts gets to brag the most with his overall win on the Olympic course while Krisi Heriford won the women's overall Olympic course title. Michael Szewczyk won the men's Sprint title with his overall win and Katherine Gillett from Montclair won the women's Sprint overall. The relay teams were out in force vying for title of "Dream Team." Team Go Ride picked up a couple of division wins while the Bakersfield Police Department fielded a number of teams and scoring a win. For complete results please go to the Results page.

AMAZING

What an amazing group of racers. The Kids Tri fielded a great group of junior racers as young as 6 years old starting their triathlon tradition. The age range in the Sprint Tri went from a 15 year old to an 84 year old (Chuck Frueler from Fresno). We hope everyone had a good time and took a moment to thank our volunteers. It takes a lot of them to make this event successful and your race a positive experience.

HISTORY

The Bakersfield Triathlon is one of the longest running events in the sport. Established in 1981, the Bakersfield Triathlon has earned a reputation as one of the most challenging triathlons in the U.S. The longer course has changed some over time but the addition of 2 laps on the bike up the Bluffs and a run loop that includes the famous Hanglider Hill and Bastard Hill are enough to test the most seasoned veteran. The Sprint Course allows both the beginner and the fast & furious to have a good time without the steep hills. Relay teams are welcome in both events and a Kids Tri is available for the young ones. There is even a Collegiate division in the Sprint Course to support triathlon at the college level.
